Migrant Service Centres opened their doors in several Balkans countries PDF Print E-mail

Zagreb, 07.06.2008

As of June 1st 2008, Migrant Service Centres in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia (including Kosovo) opened their doors to persons seeking information on migration opportunities or exploring their options within their country of origin. IOM advisers will provide visitors with personalised assistance and latest information on visas, work permits, residence, social security and other issues in the most important countries of destination.

Migrant Service Centres in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia (including Kosovo) are part of the project “Capacity Building, Information and Awareness Raising towards Promoting Orderly Migration in the Western Balkans, which has received financial assistance from the European Commission AENEAS 2006 programme as well as the Swiss Federal Office for Migration and the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. The Migrant Service Centres are embedded within identified local structures, such as local and regional Employment Offices and relevant Ministries. Local officials within these local structures will work in tandem with IOM staff receiving on-the-job training within the daily activity of the Migrant Service Centres throughout the project implementation. The MSC Croatia (Migracijski Informacijski Centar – MIC) is located at the Croatian Employment Office (Hrvatski Zavod za Zapošljavanje – HZZ), opening hours for clients, from Monday to Friday, 9:00–13:00.

The Migrant Service Centres will also provide information on referral services to relevant local institutions for individual skills development in view of improving employment potential both at home and abroad.
